PALM BEACH GARDENS, Fla. (September 29, 2015) – The Mandel JCC of the Palm Beaches will host a remarkable week-long series of events from November 10 to 14, 2015. The week begins with the debut of a fantastic new art gallery exhibition and the premier of a documentary, part of the Donald M. Ephraim Palm Beach Jewish Film Festival, at the JCC’s Palm Beach Gardens location. The week continues with the always popular signature Book Luncheon featuring best-selling author Nicole Dweck, and culminates with the nonprofit’s annual gala.

Staff has led dynamic enhancements for the Fall season including new programs, enrichment classes and special events at the community center – a facility that includes a preschool, day camp, adult and children’s programming, fitness center and pool and more.

BOYNTON BEACH, FL (September 1, 2015) – The Mandel JCC Boynton Beach will offer dozens of dynamic, distinctive programs this Fall designed for children ages four months to college bound. Programs range from the JCC’s new free college prep series to parent and me classes not available elsewhere, basketball skills training clinics by Barry University’s head coach and more. Classes are separated by age group, and the schedule runs through November 2015.
$20,000 RAISED AT “GIVE WITH YOUR HEART” COMMUNITY RECEPTION FOR MANDEL JCC SPECIAL NEEDS PROGRAM
PALM BEACH GARDENS, Fla. (April 6, 2015) – Nearly 100 guests attended the Mandel JCC of the Palm Beaches’ “Give With Your Heart” community reception for the Connie and David Blacher Special Needs Program on March 31, 2015, which raised $20,000. The special needs program, widely recognized among the top in Palm Beach County, is offered at the JCC’s Boynton Beach and Palm Beach Gardens locations. Helene and Bill Pittler hosted the reception.
MANDEL JCC CELERATES COMPLETION OF FIRST PHASE OF $11 MILLION RENOVATION WITH COMMUNITY RIBBON CUTTING
PALM BEACH GARDENS, FL (April 28, 2015) – Almost 200 guests recently joined together at the Boynton Beach location of the Mandel JCC of the Palm Beaches to celebrate the completion of the first phase of construction for the $11 million, multi-phase renovation of the community center. The ribbon cutting ceremony, along with the opening of the new art gallery, was held Wednesday, April 22, 2015 as part of the “Great Celebration,” a series of big events from April 21, 2015 through May 3, 2015, including the JCC’s annual Health and Wellness Expo and a Lag B’Omer family holiday celebration. The Great Celebration was sponsored by Bethesda Memorial Hospital, NuVista Living, and Fisher Contracting Corp.
DAUGHTER OF IRAQI IMMIGRANT PRESENTS DEBUT NOVEL IN LAKE WORTH AND PALM BEACH GARDENS
PALM BEACH GARDENS, Fla. (February, 2015) – The 2014-2015 Mandel JCC Annual Book Festival will host author Jessica Soffer, the daughter of an Iraqi immigrant, on March 3, 2015 at 2:00 p.m. at the Atlantis Country Club in Lake Worth, chaired by Carole Geller and on March 4, 2015 at 2:30 p.m. at Frenchman’s Creek in Palm Beach Gardens, chaired by Tootsie Eisenberg and Beryl Schneider. Soffer will present her first novel Tomorrow There Will Be Apricots.
Tomorrow There Will Be Apricots is about a young girl who spends her life studying cookbooks to earn the love her mother, a chef, who is sending her off to boarding school. When she signs up for cooking lessons to learn how to make her mother’s favorite dish, she meets an Iraqi-Jewish immigrant widow who is yearning for the love of a family as well. Soon, the two suspect they are connected by more than just the love of food.

BOYNTON BEACH, FL (January 6, 2015) – The Mandel JCC of the Palm Beaches will host its 20th Annual Boynton Beach Book Luncheon featuring best-selling authors Pam Jenoff and Alyson Richman on Tuesday, February 10, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. at Indian Springs Country Club in Boynton Beach.
The luncheon will not only include a discussion of the authors’ individual new releases, but also the anthology for which they both wrote stories, Grand Central: Original Stories of Postwar Love and Reunion. The book brings together the stories of 10 best-selling female historical fiction authors – each of which pass through Grand Central Terminal on the same day in August 1945.

BOYNTON BEACH, FL (December 22, 2014) – The Academy of Continuing Education (ACE) at the Mandel JCC of the Palm Beaches Boynton Beach location, is kicking off its Winter 2015 season with a free Open House on Thursday, January 8, 2015 at 1:30 p.m. The popular adult education program, which features hundreds of classes and seminars, is sponsored by Allegro Senior Living and Solkoff Legal.
At the open house, guests will have the opportunity to meet instructors and other ACE members while learning about the upcoming courses and special events. The event features guest speaker, author Iris Krasnow, who will present her novel, Sex After: Share How Intimacy Changes as Life Changes.
MANDEL JCC TO HOST TWO COMMUNITY WIDE HANUKKAH CELEBRATIONS

(December 8, 2014) – The Mandel JCC of the Palm Beaches will host two Hanukkah celebrations, with candle lighting ceremonies in both Boynton Beach and Jupiter on Sunday, December 21, 2014. The events, which are free and open to the public, welcome hundreds each year and are in partnership with a dozen local organizations.

CARON SHUTAN NAMED NEW DIRECTOR OF DEVELOPMENT FOR MANDEL JCC OF THE PALM BEACHES

Shutan brings more than a decade of experience in development and donor relations. As CDO, Shutan will be responsible for growing the Mandel JCC’s individual major gifts program, as well as creating and implementing strategic annual solicitation plans, including the Capital Campaign, Annual Campaign and Corporate Sponsorships, among others.
