EXPERIENCE ELLIS ISLAND THROUGH THE EYES OF ARTIST PHILLIP RATNER
PALM BEACH GARDENS, Fla. (February XX, 2015) – The Mandel JCC, Palm Beach Gardens will present the works of Phillip Ratner in the art exhibition, Becoming Americans: Images of Ellis Island. Opening on March 2, 2015 with a reception that is free and open to the public, Ratner will speak at 6:00 p.m. The exhibit runs through April 10, 2015 in the Lyons Art Gallery and is free. The exhibition is sponsored by Fred and Iris Burke.
MANDEL JCC OF THE PALM BEACHES HOSTS COMMUNITY PURIM FESTIVAL
PALM BEACH GARDENS, Fla. (February 24, 2015) – The Mandel JCC of the Palm Beaches is teaming up with Temple Beth David, Temple Judea, Arthur I. Meyer Jewish Academy and The Jewish Federation of Palm Beach County to host a free community wide Purim Festival on Friday, March 6, 2015. The carnival will kick off with a preview party for preschool age children (up to five years old) at 2:30 p.m., with the free and public carnival beginning at 3:45 p.m. A community Kabbalat Shabbat will start at 5:30 p.m.
DAUGHTER OF IRAQI IMMIGRANT PRESENTS DEBUT NOVEL IN LAKE WORTH AND PALM BEACH GARDENS

(February XX, 2015) – The 2014-2015 Mandel JCC Annual Book Festival will host author Jessica Soffer, the daughter of an Iraqi immigrant, on March 3, 2015 at 2:00 p.m. at the Atlantis Country Club in Lake Worth, chaired by Carole Geller and on March 4, 2015 at 2:30 p.m. at Frenchman’s Creek in Palm Beach Gardens, chaired by Tootsie Eisenberg and Beryl Schneider. Soffer will present her first novel Tomorrow There Will Be Apricots.
MANDEL JCC OF THE PALM BEACHES HIRES TWO EMPLOYEES FOR POPULAR SUMMER DAY CAMP

(February 18, 2015) – Presenting its first ever group art exhibition, the Mandel JCC, Palm Beach Gardens will open Inaugural JCC Members’ Art Exhibition, from April 14, 2015 to May 22, 2015 in the Lyons Art Gallery. The exhibition, which will feature artwork submitted by Mandel JCC members, opens April 14, 2015 at 5:30 p.m. with a reception. The reception and exhibition are free and open to the public.
HOWL AT THE MOON’S DUELING PIANO SHOW COMING TO MANDEL JCC OF THE PALM BEACHES
PALM BEACH GARDENS, Fla. (February 17, 2015) - The Mandel JCC of the Palm Beaches will host Howl at the Moon’s lively dueling piano show during its premiere event, “Saturday Night @ the J,” on April 25, 2015. The event, to be held at the JCC’s Palm Beach Gardens location, will celebrate camp fanatics, Camp Shalom adult alumni and 50 years of Camp Shalom, the JCC’s leading summer day camp. Kaufman will discuss his book Give War and Peace a Chance: Tolstoyan Wisdom for Troubled Times, his version of the original novel War and Peace first published by Russian novelist and philosopher Leo Tolstoy in 1869. ARTIST HELEN STEIN AND WHITESPACE COME TO THE MANDEL JCC
PALM BEACH GARDENS, FL (December 5, 2014) – Artist Helen Stein is bringing her exhibit, The Pursuit of Immortality, to the Bente & Daniel S. Lyons Art Gallery at the Mandel JCC in Palm Beach Gardens.
Helen Stein’s dynamic and energetic works are a culmination of years of learning. Her distorted, larger than life watercolors and acrylics, with their bold and dramatic sweeps of color, explode off the canvas. One of the recurring themes of her work - “time is the invisible enemy.” Stein’s work is featured in many private and corporate collections.

(November 6, 2014) – The Mandel JCC Palm Beach Gardens presents Taglit-Birthright Israel exhibition: Through the Lens, featuring 36 captivating photographs from the alumni of young adults who traveled to Israel for the first time with this organization. The opening reception November 11, 2014 at 5:00 p.m., is free and open to the public. At 6:00 p.m. there will be a short presentation of the alumni stories from Israel. 50-YEAR TIME CAPSULE PLACED IN MANDEL JCC
PALM BEACH GARDENS WALL TO COMMEMORATE GRAND OPENING
PALM BEACH GARDENS, FLA. (October, 2014) – Morton Mandel, along with the Mandel JCC Board members and CEO, Mindy Hanken participated in a special ceremony to place a time capsule in one of the walls at the Mandel JCC Palm Beach Gardens. The time capsule will remain for 50 years until the staff in 2064 opens it to reminisce about the first year of the new facility, which opened in 2013. The ceremony took place on Wednesday, October 22, 2014.
NOVA SOUTHEASTERN UNIVERSITY AND MANDEL JCC WORK TOGETHER TO RAISE AWARENESS ON DANGERS OF BULLYING
PALM BEACH GARDENS, FLA. (October XX, 2014) – In an urgent attempt to raise awareness on the dangers of bullying, the Mandel JCC of Palm Beach Gardens and Nova Southeastern University have teamed up to present “We Didn’t See the Signs” on November 18, 2014 at 7:00 p.m. The lecture, presented by Dr. Scott Poland, will address the signs of suicide and how to help a bullied child before it becomes “bullycide.” This free lecture is part of the Nova Southeastern University Lecture Series.

MANDEL JCC OF THE PALM BEACHES NAMES MINDY HANKEN AS NEW CEO
PALM BEACH GARDENS, FLA. (August 21, 2014) – The Mandel JCC of the Palm Beaches recently promoted Mindy Hanken to the position of Chief Executive Officer (CEO). Hanken has worked at the Mandel JCC for more than six years, most recently serving as its Chief Operating Officer (COO), supervising and managing all programming and operations. She is highly regarded by the national JCC Association as one of its leading professionals.
