WEEK-LONG COMMUNITY CELEBRATION PLANNED FOR OPENING OF MANDEL JCC PALM BEACH GARDENS
PALM BEACH GARDENS (October 18, 2013) – The Mandel JCC Palm Beach Gardens invites the community to attend a spectacular week-long event that’s five years in the making: after years of preparation and construction, the Mandel JCC Palm Beach Gardens will celebrate with a week-long Grand Opening Celebration from November 10, 2013 to November 16, 2013 at the expansive new 16-acre campus at 5221 Hood Road. The week will kick off with a festive community celebration on Sunday, November 10, 2013, followed by a week-long program showcase and conclude with an elegant gala.
The Mandel JCC community celebration will be held on Sunday, November 10, 2013 from 1 to 5 p.m. More than 1,000 guests are anticipated for this free event featuring music, food, carnival rides and activities for the whole family. Kids can enjoy inflatable slides, obstacle courses, electric go carts, a new age Klezmer concert, and much more. The popular Jewish rock band, Rick Recht, will give an afternoon performance. Inside the 56,000-sq.-ft. facility, guests can peruse the book sale selection, sample free classes, or check out the “Iron Chef” competition in the teaching kitchen. From Monday, November 11, 2013 to Friday, November 15, 2013, the Mandel JCC welcomes the community with a free program showcase. Guests can sample fitness and adult education classes, hear from guest speakers and attend special events. Celebrity guests include Jared Fogle (the Subway guy) to discuss healthy lifestyles for children; acclaimed author Tania Grossinger will discuss her book Memoir of an Independent Woman; Olympic gold medalist Lenny Krayzelburg will conduct a children’s swim lesson and be on-site for a pool party; Chef John Rico from Culinary Institute of America; a film presented by the Palm Beach Jewish Film Festival; the opening of the Bente S. and Daniel M. Lyons Art Gallery, featuring an exhibit by local artist Barbara Danenberg and dozens more events.
“The community celebration and showcase are excellent opportunities to experience the Mandel JCC and the dynamic array of programs and amenities available throughout the state-of-the-art campus,” said Mindy Hanken, Mandel JCC Director. “With hundreds of classes, from kid’s gymnastics and adult basketball leagues, to Zumba, Pilates and yoga to a popular bridge program, new adult education classes, cultural arts events, day trips and more, we’re confident that the Mandel JCC Palm Beach Gardens offers opportunities to suit everyone’s interests.”
The Grand Opening week concludes with an elegant gala on Saturday, November 16, 2013 at 7 p.m. The soiree, featuring an evening of dinner and dancing, will honor community leaders and philanthropists, Linda and Ray Golden, as well as all of the donors to the Mandel JCC Capital Campaign. Tickets are $250.
The week-long Grand Opening Celebration is co-chaired by Gayle and Paul Gross and Tracie and Gary Krieger. The community celebration is co-chaired by Janice and Michael Falk, Sue and Gary Hubschman, and Danielle and Craig Storch. The gala is co-chaired by Connie and David Blacher, Zelda and Allen Mason, Beryl and Robert Schneider, and Vicki and Stephen Wildstein.
