MORE THAN 100 PEOPLE JOIN FOR RIBBON CUTTING TO CELEBRATE THE NEW MANDEL JCC PALM BEACH GARDENS
PALM BEACH GARDENS (Spetember 11, 2013) – After nearly five years of planning and just 10 months after breaking ground, the Mandel JCC – one of Palm Beach Gardens’ largest recent projects at $20 million and 16 acres – has opened its doors to the community. More than 100 people celebrated the opening with a ribbon cutting ceremony on Thursday, August 29, 2013. Major benefactors Mr. and Mrs. Morton Mandel were in attendance.
Other notable guests at the ribbon cutting for the 56,000-sq.-ft- community center located at 5221 Hood Road included: Palm Beach Gardens Mayor Bert Premuroso, Vice-Mayor Eric Jablin, and council members David J. Levy and Marcie Tinsley; Ilan Kaufer, Jupiter town council member; Beth Kigel, president and CEO of Northern Palm Beach County Chamber of Commerce; Bob and Beryl Schneider; Gary and Tracie Krieger; Michael Falk; Michelle Wasch Lobovits, Mandel JCC of the Palm Beaches executive director; Sandy Baklor, president of the Jewish Federation of Palm Beach County; David Phillips, CEO of the Jewish Federation of Palm Beach County; and many more.
The Mandel JCC has 114 preschool students, as well as children’s after school classes and a popular summer day camp. The JCC also features nearly 100 fitness classes per week, more than 50 adult education classes, family programming and cultural events including the 19th annual book festival, dozens of children’s programs and more for all ages. The facility features an aquatics center, sports fields, gymnastics and fitness studio, reception hall, indoor and outdoor playgrounds, and space for fitness, health and wellness classes. The JCC will offer adult programming, bridge, lectures, health and wellness programs, fitness classes, and children’s programming, including for those with special needs. The building is named after The Jack, Joseph and Morton Mandel Foundation. The Mandel JCC of the Palm Beaches is a partner agency of the Jewish Federation of Palm Beach County.
The Mandel JCC Palm Beach Gardens will host an official Grand Opening week featuring a Community Celebration on Nov. 10, a week-long program showcase (featuring free classes) Nov. 11-15, and a gala on Nov. 16.
