JCC Cares Community Service
The JCC Cares program is an opportunity for participants to enhance their experience at the JCC Maccabi Games by taking a few hours out of their schedules to participate in a community service project. The basic American concept of community service is closely tied to the fundamental Jewish value of Tikkun Olam (repairing the world), which obligates us to make a difference in the lives of others who may be less fortunate than ourselves.

Opening Ceremonies and Events
Similar to the Opening and Closing Ceremonies at the Olympics, JCC Maccabi Games offers an opportunity for each delegation to parade through a public venue and show their city’s team pride at the start and end of the week. Other events throughout the week include social activities such as Boomers and Beach Party.

What are the JCC Maccabi Games?
The Adolph & Rose Levis Jewish Community Center will be the host for the 2014 JCC Maccabi Games August 10-15, 2014. The program is the largest gathering of Jewish teens in the world, bringing delegations from throughout North America and Israel for Olympic-style athletics competitions, as well as cultural and social activities. Participants learn the value of teamwork, integrity, cultural pride and community service, while expanding an appreciation of Jewish values, connecting with the community, enriching their Jewish identities, improving their overall health and well-being and building lifelong friendships. The events, including Opening and Closing Ceremonies, competitions, parties and JCC Cares Community Service Programs will take place at a variety of venues throughout the Boca Raton area.

Who Participates in the Events?
The inaugural JCC Maccabi Games were held in 1982. The Games have grown with immense popularity over the years and up to three cities are now chosen to host the activities each summer. The 2014 event is expected to bring more than 1,000 teens to Boca Raton, along with 250 coaches, and more than 2,000 visiting family members. In addition, more than 500 host families will open their homes to the visiting athletes, more than 1,000 local volunteers will contribute time and effort to ensure a memorable experience to our guests, and thousands more will cheer on the participants during the competitions.
