Faye Kellerman
New York Times bestseller, Faye Kellerman, is
the master of suspense, with more than 5 million books in print. She has
written 15 thrillers including 13 Peter Decker/Rina Lazarus novels. Faye shares the
development of the Decker/Lazarus characters and how they reflect some of life’s
experiences as Orthodox Jews. Her presentation combines humor and
intelligence as she discusses juggling home, family, religion and career, tailoring her
talks to her vast and varied audiences.
Faye Kellerman’s groundbreaking first novel,
The Ritual Bath, was published in 1986 to wide critical and commercial acclaim
and won the Macavity Award for Best First Novel from the Mystery Readers of
America.
Kellerman’s critically-acclaimed novels
include: Sacred and Profane, Milk and Honey, Day of Atonement, False Prophet,
Grievous Sin, The Quality of Mercy, Prayers For The Dead, Sanctuary, Bones,
Stalker, The Forgotten and Stone Kiss. Her highly praised short stories and
reviews have been anthologized in several collections including two volumes of
the notable Sisters in Crime series.
Kellerman’s protagonists, Rina and Peter
Decker, bear a striking resemblance to her real family. She, too, is a
dedicated mother of four children. She was trained as a dentist but abandoned
her career to begin snooping around prison’s and police stations to research her grisly novels.
Inspired by both the enormous success of her husband, Jonathan Kellerman, a
psychologist turned best-selling thriller writer of the Alex Delaware series,
and the complexity of Los Angeles, Kellerman decided to become a full-time
mystery writer.
Faye Kellerman was born in St. Louis, Missouri
and grew up in Sherman Oaks, California. She earned a BA in mathematics, and a
doctorate in dentistry at UCLA, where she conducted research in oral biology
and radiology, and received a University Fellowship. A great supporter of adult
literacy, Children’s Hospital and many Jewish charities, Kellerman currently
serves on the Board of Directors of the Mystery Writers of America, South
California Chapter.
The Garden of Eden and Other Criminal Delights
is Kellerman’s new novel.
