The Psychology of Life: Mental Health for Seniors
This course will examine the factors causing stress and anxiety, and their physical, behavioral, and psychological effects as well as what mental illness is, and how it affects the family. Stress management techniques you can use in your daily life will also be reviewed. Learn about caregiving, bereavement, how to move on, and how to look at who we are related to self concept (Are we winners or losers?). You will learn a lot about yourself in this series.
Dr. Jerome Goodman completed his Masters at Columbia University and Ph.D. at St. John’s University. He has been the Director of Psychology at St. Francis Hospital in Poughkeepsie, N.Y, a Professor at SUNY New Paltz, and has maintained a private practice. Presently, he volunteers at Peer Place, is a Board Member of the National Alliance on Mental Illness, and received the 2008 Presidential Volunteer Award for dedication to veterans, seniors and those living with mental illness.
