Introduction to Genealogy
Genealogy could become not only your hobby but your passion. It’s an exciting way to connect with family members to ensure that traditions are passed down despite the Americanization of our heritage. These lectures will enable you to begin your quest to research your family. We will cover genealogy formats and software; what you can find and where you can find it including census, vital records, passenger manifests, government documents and cemetery information, both in the United States and abroad. Join us for your first step into your history, culture, geography and family.
Phyllis Kramer is a practicing genealogist, with primary interest in Eastern European Jewish research. Phyllis has taught genealogy at Norwalk College, Savannah JCC, Palm Beach JGS and the NYC Museum of Jewish Heritage. At JewishGen, Phyllis is a member of the Advisory Board and the Vice President of Education, and has created an on-line Education Program for over 1800 students, for which she received the Outstanding Achievement Award, in 2011, from the International Association (IAJGS).
